ARTIST STATEMENT by Kaori Ishitani
What do you usually have been seeing?
The green that you look out of the window of your room, a table cloth with floral pattern, the light that created by a glass on a table, the smile of the person whom you love, the slope which leads to the supermarket that you always go, the form of the puddle, and the color of a cloud reflected in there…
If you just stop in front of it and try to see a part of daily life from a different point of view, you will think like “why is this such a form?” “why does this have such a color?” and “what are my feelings when I watch it?”
This means there are lots of things that make you feel “The wonder that you exist.”
While you are thinking and feeling about it, you will appreciate time and space which surrounds you and things. Moreover you will have realized that you are a part of the wonder.
I would like to provide someone an opportunity to feel and think “you are a part of the wonder.”
Therefore I paint the form of living and non-living things from everyday life that interest me. I express the color of my feelings as I look at the subject. I want the viewer to feel what I feel.
